About The Book

STORIES FROM

THE FLOOD

The book comprises stories narrated by people affected by the 2022 flood around Lismore, Australia. The people in the region have experienced a major traumatic event. This book records their experiences and aftermath. As disasters affecting communities are becoming more commonplace, many people will be able to relate to their stories.

But beneath all of the hardship and loss lies another story. Reading the stories in this volume and reflecting upon that year, will enable you to try to accommodate the tragedy with the triumph, the loss with the growth, the beauty with the horror, and to seek to articulate what we have learned about ourselves, about disasters, and about the underestimated power of community.

“In the many stories of individuals, families, businesses, and how they responded, we can learn so many lessons for future disasters."
